FATHER.

I was thinking about the father-heart of God the other day.

I was thinking that we can have fun with God and laugh with God as well as the more serious times when he has things to say to us.

Just like any good earthly father takes time to play with his child so God our heavenly father takes time to play and have fun with us.

Many Christians act and think that God is so stern and serious and think that he does not want us to have fun with him.

Many Christians think that God will hit them with a big stick if they have fun.

They think that to be spiritual you have to be serious like when they come to meetings.

Some people are so different when you see them in church.

They talk and look different as soon as they come through the doors.

I think why cant they be as they are the rest of the week.

I had a picture come to mind of a father with his son in his arms laughing and having fun playing games and so on.

Yes there will be serious times when God has things to teach us and times when he will have to put us right just as any earthly father does.

I also think that this is one of those lies that the devil has subtly put into peoples minds.

I used to think like this but praise God this is no longer the case.

So as we come to worship and pray to our father in heaven let us remember that he wants to have fun with us as well.

I think that even when we are having fun with our heavenly father he is teaching us something in his wisdom.
