And The wind blew.

By Dave Howe.

Ac:2:1: And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Ac:2:2: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Ac:2:3: And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Ac:2:4: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Ac:2:5: And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Ac:2:6: Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

Ac:2:7: And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

Ac:2:8: And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Ac:2:9: Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

Ac:2:10: Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

Ac:2:11: Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Ac:2:12: And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

Ac:2:13: Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

Ac:2:14: But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

Ac:2:15: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

Ac:2:16: But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Ac:2:17: And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Ac:2:18: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Ac:2:19: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

Ac:2:20: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:

Ac:2:21: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

And The wind blew and out they went onto the streets declaring the Word of the Lord with boldness in their hearts.

They did not fear death for they had given up their lives – They were dead to self for they had a Holy fear of God alone.

If we look at most of what’s called church today what do we see.

We see much ritual, Programs instead of moving with the wind of the Holy Spirit.

On the day of Pentecost they were in one accord in the spirit – They waited in Jerusalem as the Lord had commanded them until Whoosh – The Wind blew and out they went as one onto the streets preaching the Word with signs following.

It was so easy and simple – They just obeyed the Holy Spirit for the Holy Spirit had taught them all that they had to do directly – Jesus was their head and they as his body moved as one – Moved as he wanted – Spoke as he wanted – Each part doing its work as it had been gifted by the Lord.

Today we have bits all over the place – Each bit thinking they are the whole and in the process making a mess – Building empires – Having agendas – Thinking they are better than the other bits – Wanting the other bits to come under their rule – Having a form of godliness but in reality denying the power – Denying Christ’s rule as head of his body.

On the day of Pentecost there was no man at the front behind a pulpit telling them his strategy on how to make the church grow – No one pointing to a flow chart showing how its going to be done or not all – No man stamping his authority over the Body – Telling others to obey him - Standing in place of Christ.

On that day they were all filled with the Holy Spirit – Flames of fire appeared on their heads – They became flames of fire burning for the Lord.

Out they went onto the streets – Everyone outside hearing the Word in their own language understanding it fully – No Religious jargon as we see today.

Peter then spoke and 3,000 men were added to the body that day – For they understood – Were cut to heart – Repented - Called on the name of the Lord and were saved.

I believe that from that moment those that were saved went in the city and told others of the wonders of Christ – Told others the Way of Salvation with signs following.

There was no man whipping them up to do this and that – They just did as the Lord told them.

They were not trying to stop others from doing the Lords work as some do today if your not part of their group – Trying to make you to do it their way and submit to their ways.

As we see below the disciples used to think like that in the early days – But Jesus told them not to do that – This happened before Jesus Died and rose again – Before the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost.

M'r:9:38: And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

M'r:9:39: But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

M'r:9:40: For he that is not against us is on our part.

For the wind blows where it wants – We do not know its coming and going – We cannot put it in a box.

For within a box there is no wind – All is still – You have use a fan to stir up the air. And then it only moves round and round doing the same thing over and over - You have to work hard to keep anything moving in a box.

But outside the box the wind blows freely with no effort – Blows over the fields that are white unto harvest – All we have to is follow and obey.

Are we truly filled with the Holy Spirit and with Fire or in boxes with just a fan to stir up the stale air within ?.

For where the Spirit of Lord is there is liberty – And the Wind will blow.
