The Jigsaw.

 

Picture this – In front of you is a jigsaw puzzle  - All the peaces in a heap.

 

What happens when the wind blows on this heap – It scatters it – Blows it away.

 

But when the Lord blows upon this puzzle heap it becomes the picture its meant to be.

 

When man tries to put this puzzle heap together he misses bits off  – Losses bits – Gets bits in the wrong places - Breaks bits off the puzzle – And takes a long time doing even this.

 

In the beginning God created heaven and earth – He just spoke - Breathed and it came to be.

 

Man is always puzzled – Trying to work things out – Trying to make things in his own image – Trying to conform the world - Church to his ways – Trying to improve what God has made – Making a mess of what was perfect.

 

Did God really say – Said the devil to Eve – Casting doubt on Gods Word.

So it has been since that day.

 

Christ came and took all that man messed up and made it whole again – He died and was raised from the dead – Saying it is finished upon the cross.

 

At Pentecost the wind of the Holy Spirit came and put together the church – He blew upon the people waiting there in the upper room and the puzzle became a picture.  And out onto the streets they poured proclaiming the Way of Salvation to the world.

 

There was nether male nor female – Slave nor free – Greek nor Jew – All were one in Christ – Each one gifted – Put in their place by Christ – Not man.

Yes the puzzle had become a picture – And that day many more came into the kingdom – Became part of the picture.

 

But – Look what’s happened to the church – Its become a broken picture become a puzzle again with man trying put it together again.

 

What did happen – The church took its eyes off God and the devil said – Did God say – You can do better than God – Make a better Job of it – Improve it – And man pulled the picture apart into puzzle again – And has been puzzled ever since.

 

Every time the wind God blew man got in the way – And the devil said – Did God say – For he is the author of confusion.

 

Today we have a puzzle before us – We are all trying to make this puzzle into the picture that God intended – So we think we are doing it - But are not – For we are making it into our image.

 

 

We make our plans and expect the Lord to abide by them – We keep telling the Lord how to run his church – If you doubt this just look around you – At all the different Denominations - Models of how the church should be run – All with man in the driving seat and the people under them.

And the devil keeps saying – Did God say – Masquerading as an angel of light.

 

We think we have the answer – But have not – Only Christ has the answer – Let him breath upon the puzzle and it will become the picture he intended it to be – Perfect in every way.

 

At creation God said – Let there be light - And it was good – On the Cross Christ said it is finished – And it was very good - At Pentecost the Holy Spirit blew – And it was very good for all time.

 

Stand back people from the puzzle and stop puzzling – Take your hands off - Cast your eyes upon Christ – Yes come walk upon the water with Christ and be free – And be UN puzzled.

 

Come blow upon us o Lord – Put us together as you intended – For we repent before you o Lord – Repent of doing things our way – Repent of doing church our way – Repent of messing up your creation Lord – Repent of listening to did God say.

 

For your ways are higher than our ways – Your thoughts deeper than our thoughts.  As far as the east is from the west.

 

Come – Blow upon us Lord.
